LATEST NEWS

As Helen and Peter embark upon their magical journey towards marital bliss, they'll be sure to keep you informed of all the latest exciting developments by posting details of them below.

19/11/10: The most scary moment of Peter's life so far......he asks Helen if she would make him the happiest man alive by agreeing to be his wife. And to his complete amazement, she says.....YES! Hurrah! Curry and Moet follows!

20/11/10: The second most scary moment of Peter's life: asking Sheila (Helen's mum) if she'll give us her blessing. She does! What a fantastic, yet surreal afternoon!

21/11/10: Now it's John and Barbara's turn to hear the news! And guess what...they're delighted too! More champagne follows! Wahoo!

30/11/10: Yay! They've found their church: St. Mary the Virgin, Hurley, Berkshire. It's absolutely gorgeous! Let's just hope there's an available date for next summer! This place is bound to be in huge demand!

13/12/10: The date has been set! Helen and Peter will officially tying the knot in Hurley on 18th June 2011. Blimey - that's little more than 6 months away! Gulp!

14/12/10: The reception venue looks pretty much set too! After looking beyond the fact that both Helen and Peter work there, they have been enticed to hold their reception at Hall Place, Berkshire College of Agriculture. Being honest, they'd have been mad not to. The grounds are gorgeous. The building is magnificent. And because they work there, they get a 50% discount. Cha-ching!

19/12/10: Peter asks Anthony and George whether they'll be his Best Men. They both emphatically agree!

08/01/11: The wedding night venue has been booked and paid for. They'll be spending their first night as Mr. and Mrs. Sarner-Taylor at The Compleat Angler, Marlow. Yep - they're just that posh!

11/01/11: Dan, Tom (Chiggers) and Tom (Tom) all agree to be Ushers on the big day!

15/01/11: Helen and Hariette spend the afternoon gushing over all the lovely things at The Marlow Wedding Centre, resulting in a dress being bought. Alice Horten, eat your heart out!

16/01/11: Helen and Sally spend the morning at a wedding show at Fredricks Hotel, in Maidenhead. They meet all sorts of wonderful people including a Magician...er, sorry...a Demonstrator of Extra-Sensory Curiosities. He impresses them so much that Helen pencils in a booking. And to Peter's delight, she negotiates a 16% discount!

22/01/11: A trip back to Henley-on-Thames, and specifically, their good friends at Lawson Goldsmith. Simon didn't seem at all surprised that the 18 month engagement had been trimmed to just 6 months, stating "When we see a couple who are clearly as in love with each other as you two, we wonder why they would want to wait so long before getting married. Now let me show you our platinum range".

22/01/11: It is with tremendous delight that the happy couple can announce their Master of Ceremonies - the Taylor's old (long-standing) and very good friend, Roger Faulkes. There isn't another person alive who could do a better job. Big smiles all round when he agrees!

30/01/11: Helen and Hariette head off to Reading to check out (and try on) some bridesmaid dresses. And as you would expect, they don't come back empty handed.

01/02/11: It's wedding breakfast tasting time! And the ever awesome Sarah, the unofficial wedding planner, has rustled up 6 plates of culinary heaven! How are Peter and Helen supposed to decide what would be best for the big day when everything tastes so great?

02/02/11: Chris from Cascade Events comes to the college for a site assessment. All seems perfect. And of course, he convinces Peter to upgrade to a 12m x 18m marquee!

12/02/11: The wedding invitations are posted! There really is no turning back now. Helen and Peter chuckle to themselves when they realise that there are going to be a lot of disappointed people on Monday morning (Valentine's Day) who find that it's just an invitation to the wedding sitting on their doormat and not a card from a secret admirer.

17/02/11: Flights for the honeymoon are booked! Wahoooooooo!

28/02/11: Deposit for the honeymoon has been paid. Double wahoooooo!

02/03/11: The RSVPs are starting to come back thick and fast now. The score is currently:

                                                              Team Helen   24   -   21   Team Peter

Thank you to everyone who has already confirmed their attendance. It is greatly appreciated. For those who haven't responded yet, it would be fantastic to hear from you soon. The joyous task of planning the seating arrangements is just around the corner.

10/03/11: Great success at Team Peter finally overtakes Team Helen on the RSVP stakes. The score is now:

                                                              Team Helen   39   -   41   Team Peter

Keep 'em coming guys!

14/03/11: Unbeknown to those who's surname will not be Sarner-Taylor this June, there was a secret bet between Helen and Peter whereby the first to 50 RSVPs would enjoy a day of total pampering at the expense of the other. But in a truly strange twist of fate, with the score at 49 - 48 in Helen's favour, the happy couple return home from work to find 3 envelopes sitting on the door mat. And would you believe it, there were 2 RSVPs for Peter and one for Helen, meaning both of them hit the 50 mark on the same day! Unbelievable stuff!!!! There are still a few RSVPs outstanding - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!! Please try and get them in the post as quickly as possible as the food really needs to be ordered.

01/04/11: The wedding wine was ordered today! Hurrah! Peter and Helen will be heading over to Calais to pick it up during the Easter weekend! And I'm sure that 'Moules Frites' will be on the agenda too! Yum!

17/04/11: At long last - the final RSVP is received! Now to save embarrassing the tardy couple, we'll just refer to them as "Mr. and Mrs. D Treadwell". Actually, that's probably too obvious. We'll call them "Mr. and Mrs. Daniel T".

23/04/11: An early start sees Peter and Helen board the Euro Star with Sheila's lovely new car and its fantastically huge boot! She's a very kind and trusting lady! And after a lovely morning driving along a very picturesque section of the French coast - and enjoying the BIGGEST bowl of mussels you have ever seen - it's destination: Calais Wines. When we arrive, there is a very precariously loaded shopping cart, stacked full with wine and champagne. And our eyes light up when we realise it's been pre-loaded especially for us. And to our complete surprise, the very kind chaps tell us to have a wander around and choose another £100 worth of stock, as a wedding gift from them! Truly fantastic!!! Pushing the carts out of the store and towards the car, Peter's heart skips a couple of beats, wondering how on earth it's all going to fit in. But he needn't have worried, as the tardis-like Skoda Superb gobbles up our wedding booze with complete ease!

06/05/11: It's off to the vicar's house for tea and biscuits! And together, we run through the order of service and have a chat about the various hymns and readings that have been selected. Mark provides some fantastic inspiration leaving us feeling incredibly positive and excited about the journey ahead.

07/05/11: A very wedding-orientated day ahead. First, John and Jacki Lowry head over to pick up Helen for a trial run of the journey to the church. They meet Shelia and enjoy a nice cup of tea before putting together a perfectly crafted schedule.

Next, Peter's Best Men and Ushers come over and together, they head to Marlow to get fitted for their suits. Huge laughter erupts when Anthony comes out of the dressing room with trousers falling about 5 inches short ("help a London child, sir"). And that damn Tom Kinsey steals the show with his perfectly fitting attire (did anyone else hear the owner ask Tom whether he was available to model their next catalogue???).

And to finish the day, Helen has her final dress fitting, which 'apparently' went very well indeed (Peter is still clueless as to what the dress looks like).

08/05/11: Helen and Peter attend the second of their 'away wedding banns' being read at St. Francis of Assisi Church in High Wycombe. A very nice service with lots of friendly people all saying "pleased to meet you" to Helen. Or at least that's what she thought they were saying. Turns out, it was "peace be with you", so it's no wonder Helen received some funny looks when she replied to each of them saying "pleased to meet you too".

12/05/11: Another menu tasting session throws the whole wedding meal up into the air - but in a good way! Is there nothing that Pav (the caterer) can't do? The main course and the dessert are both changed from what was originally selected - with the latter causing some level of disagreement between the happy Bride and Groom to be. There's only one thing for it: Scissors, Paper, Stone!!!

13/05/11: Peter's Stag Weekend Begins

16/05/11: Peter's Stag Weekend Ends

22/05/11: Peter and Helen attend the last of their 'home wedding banns' being read at St. Mary the Virgin Church in Hurley. Another very nice service, and this time, Helen was fully prepared to wish peace upon every person there.

30/05/11: With only 19 days until the big day, Helen and Peter begin their wedding preparation course, courtesy of a fun, yet informative DVD. But after only getting through half of the first section (of 5 sections), we are left wondering whether we might have left this a little late in the day? Ah sod it, we know we're in love! We can pick up the rest later! :)

31/05/11: A rather embarrassing yet fun session with the wedding photographer sees Helen and Peter strolling round the grounds of BCA, hand-in-hand, practicing their poses for big day. And Peter learns an 'interesting' technique for reducing the height deficit between him and his gorgeous bride. Thank god this is only used for torso and up shots!

06/06/11: The final numbers and menu choices have been submitted. We hope you enjoy everything we have chosen!

07/06/11 - 17/06/11: Everything in the build up to the wedding now seems a distant blur. But with a little (er, a lot of) help from our friends and family, we were able to get everything ready in time. Phew.

18/06/11: THE MOST WONDERFUL DAY OF OUR LIVES !!!
